Enrollment for secondary education for SY 2011-2012 is recorded at 3,972 as compared to 3,911 in SY 2010-2011.
Aliaga’s public high school system is complimented by a teaching force of 135 all committed to and caring for the welfare of their students. Because of this dedication, the outlook of the public secondary education in the municipality is distinctly positive. Seemingly, the youth of Aliaga see education as the most solid stepping stone to a better and productive life ahead. This is prevalent in the high survival rate, very high graduation rate and similarly high retention rate in all the high schools in the municipality. Tertiary Education
The local government, under the leadership of Mayor Marcial R. Vargas and with the full support of the Sangguniang Bayan, led by Vice Mayor Elizabeth R. Vargas, has pushed for a higher learning institution of its own for Aliaga’s poor but deserving students.
Conceived as a major component of the 10-Year Aliaga Agro-Industrialization Program, the establishment of the Western Nueva Ecija College (WNEC) was authorized by the Sangguniang Bayan in 2010. The only college in Nueva Ecija being administered by the local government unit, WNEC has officially opened its academic facilities in time for School Year 2011-2012. The rationale behind the establishment of the local college, are as follows: · provide farmer youths with marketable skills and continuing education to be competently competitive in the job market · provide a multi-purpose learning center for varied clientele such as women, other professionals, adult skills training, small and medium scale entrepreneurs and the likes WNEC offers the lowest tuition fee in the province, compare with other public and private schools. In addition thereto, 50% of the tuition is subsidized by the municipal government with the aim at encouraging the parents and their children to pursue higher education as a means to economic upliftment. WNEC offers the following courses duly accredited by TESDA: Computer Programming, Technical Education (Major in Electrical Installation and Electronic Servicing, Hotel and Restaurant Management with courses in Commercial Cooking, Bartendering, and Food and Beverage Services. The 5-Year program of WNEC operations will include degree courses under the auspices of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) after one to two years from the initial TESDA courses as: |
Primary Education
With a significant number of young population, the Aliaga District of the Department of Education-Region III, Division of Nueva Ecija is deeply committed to provide not only academic competence and excellence but to instill in the youth the strong sense of nationalism, concern for environment and self-discipline.
Aliaga has twenty nine (29) school heads in the elementary level who join heads, hearts and hand in transforming teachers and learning facilitators’ efforts in transforming the district’s public primary/elementary school system toward improved learning outcomes of the student population and bring out among them Aliaga’s best and hope of the future. Believing that education is the key to the realization of Aliaga’s dreams of progress, socio-economic reforms and general welfare of its citizenry, the local executive direction has given all out support and sourcing of national and provincial assistance for the continuous upgrading of schools and facilities within the municipality. Considering that quality education is at the forefront of the local government’s social and economic development thrusts, WNEC is a very vital vehicle for the delivery of basic educational services to the people, not only of Aliaga, but of the adjoining towns of Quezon, Licab, Zaragoza and Sto. Domingo as well, wherein the prospective beneficiaries will be around 50,000 subsistence-farmer families. |
